Borderlands 2 is an enigma, it is a game which compels and motivates us to keep doing one more mission or pickup one more gun .Developed by Gearbox Studios as a sequel to the 2009 sleeper hit “Borderlands”, Borderlands 2 is everything a sequel should be.
Graphics:
Borderlands 2 utilizes a unique art style known as “cell shading” which is also seen in SuckerPunch games like “Sly Cooper and “inFamous”. Following the same art style of the original Borderlands, Borderlands 2 covers a variety of locations as you traverse across Pandora hunting for the next uber awesome loot. Borderlands 2 improve its visuals over the original by leaps and bounds and that is quite visible with all the added particle effects and the tiny details in the world but by no means is it the best looking game out currently. Borderlands 2 however will stand the test of time as it does not follow a realistic style of graphics.

Gameplay:
No amount of loot and weapons can make a game fun if it doesn’t have fun and addictive gameplay which makes you strive to attain those hard-to get-weapons. It is over here where Borderlands truly shines. The shooting never gets repetitive which is quite an achievement for a first person shooter. Guns, ammo, character skins, grenade mods, class mods -- there’s always something just a bit better, something you so desperately didn’t even know you needed until you found it in Borderlands 2 and it is this motivation that forces you to push ahead. Borderlands also increases its replayability by providing four different classes based on your play style (with two new classes added via DLC). The four classes are Salvador the Gunzerker, ZerO the Assassin, Maya the Siren and Axton the Commander. ( I personally used Axton the Commander with my partner using Salvador the Gunzerker). I won’t go in depth about the various classes (check the features if you need them), I will say that the classes are incredibly diverse and it’s almost as if you’re playing a new game once you change your class as every class has a different unique ability. Trying out skills and then reassigning skill points over and over is important in Borderlands 2, especially when you consider that you can play alone or with up to three other people. Playing co-operatively in Borderlands 2 makes the combat feel different; enemies get harder and you will need to utilize teamwork to stand a chance on some of the latest quests One downside of the co-op play is that the loot gained after completing a quest or killing a boss is shared, meaning even if you all contributed equally to the quest, one guy who is the fastest will grab all your hard-earned loot. This becomes more apparent if you aren’t playing with friends and are playing with a stranger online. Gearbox should have made specific loot visible only to the player with separate loot for each participating.
While the gunplay of Borderlands has been refined to near perfection, you can’t say the same about its vehicles. Its vehicles seem like filler, just a (unneeded) break from shooting. Gearbox has clearly designed the vehicle controls as an afterthought with their controls not being up to the same standard as the gunplay.

STORY
Borderlands 2’s story is well, nothing far too special. It’s painfully predictable and clichéd and is quite similar to the original Borderlands Where Borderlands 2 is a cut above the gaming industry is the humor and by extension its dialogue. Borderlands 2 has a bunch of side-quests which are basically “go there and kill someone” every time. This would be irritating if the dialogues weren’t so damn good. You don’t even realize that you’re essentially doing the same thing every quest until you put about 30 hours in the game. The writing, presentation, and acting turn them into some of the most memorable content the game has to offer.
8.4/10
CONCLUSION
Borderlands 2 is a must-play for gamers who,
1. Love FPS games
2. Play games like Diablo or loot driven games
3. Play Co-op often, this is one of the best co-op games of the generation if not all time.
